A 21-year-old man, Pam Dung, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Area Court in Jos, Plateau State, for destroying pop ceilings and stealing electrical fittings worth N 2, 417, 000 from a house belonging to Mr Kalu Okomba.
The court, presided over by Judge Shawomi Bokkos, gave the verdict on Tuesday after Dung pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for mercy. The judge also offered the convict an option of paying a fine of N50,000 and ordered him to pay the complainant a compensation of N 2, 417, 000 or face an additional 12 months imprisonment in default.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, who reported the case at the Rantya police station on September 7, Dung broke into Okomba’s house and vandalised his pop ceilings and stole the electrical fittings in the building. He said the accused confessed to the crime during investigation.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
