The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the legitimate President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), effectively nullifying the recent inauguration of Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, as the union’s president.
The appellate court upheld an earlier decision by the National Industrial Court, delivered on March 11, 2024, which recognized Baruwa as the rightful leader.
The judgment followed an appeal by Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, and other supporters of MC Oluomo, challenging the Industrial Court’s ruling.
A three-member panel of justices, including Hamma Akawu Barka, Nnamdi Dimgba, and Asmau Ojuolape Akanbi, dismissed the appeal, stating that it lacked merit.

The court reaffirmed Baruwa’s election as NURTW president and directed the appellants to pay N100,000 in damages to the respondents.
The ruling solidifies Baruwa’s leadership of the union amidst ongoing disputes over its presidency.
