A 45-year-old man, Jonah Luka, has been ordered to be remanded in a correctional facility by a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) charged Mr Luka with rape, an offence that violates Section 258 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
The court, presided over by Samson Kwasu, did not take the plea of Mr Luka, saying it lacked the jurisdiction to hear the case.

Mr Kwasu instructed the NSCDC prosecutor, Marcus Audu, to send duplicate copies of the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The case was adjourned until February 29 for further mention.
According to Mr Audu, the father of the victim, Nazareth Dauda, lodged a complaint at the NSCDC office in Kafanchan on January 30.
He said Mr Luka enticed the girl into his room at Unguwar Rimi Bajju and raped her.
He added that the girl was taken to the Salama Sexual Referral Centre, Kafanchan, for medical examination and treatment, and the matter was referred to the NSCDC for investigation.
