Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the appeal challenging the election of Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu.
The five-member panel, led by Justice Inyang Okoro, deferred its decision after hearing arguments from both sides.
Sources within the court suggest that a verdict is expected on Friday, following judgments in appeals for Kano, Plateau, and Zamfara states.
The legal dispute arose from a petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate, Senator Sandy Onor. Onor contests Otu’s victory on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) based on two claims.
Firstly, he alleges that Otu’s presented certificate was forged, and secondly, Onor argues that Otu’s nomination for the March 18th election was invalid.
