Three people have been sentenced to six years in prison each by a Federal High Court in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
The court’s decision comes after the trio, identified as Chibueze Emmanuel, Ojuolape Olaitan, and Michael Genesis, were found guilty of vandalizing electricity cables belonging to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
Their sentencing followed arraignment before Justice A. Demi-Ajayi, prompted by their arrest by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The state Commandant of the corps, David Ojelabi, who paraded the suspects before newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta, the state capital, disclosed that four of the suspects were involved in vandalism and stealing, while one of the suspects allegedly specialised in selling marijuana.
