The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Cross River is set to deliver its judgment on Tuesday.
The case in question is the petition filed by Prof. Sandy Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the victory of Sen. Bassey Otu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The suit, identified as Suit No. EPT/CR/GOV/02/2023, was jointly instituted by Onor and the PDP.
The tribunal’s decision was confirmed in a statement by its Secretary, Mr Akawu Bambu.
Both parties have presented their written addresses to the three-man tribunal, led by Justice Oken Inneh.
The Counsel to Onor and Otu, J. Y. Musa, SAN and Prof. Mike Ozekhone, SAN respectively, have had their addresses adopted.
The tribunal had reserved judgment following the adoption of written addresses by both parties on August 13.
The upcoming judgment is eagerly awaited by all parties involved and will be a significant event in Cross River’s political landscape.
