Nigerian comedian Koboko has taken a swipe at controversial media personality Daddy Freeze over his recent comments questioning Peter Obi’s alleged role in the Abacha regime.
In a five-minute video posted on his official X account today, Koboko accused Daddy Freeze of being a hypocrite and diverting attention from the real issues plaguing Nigeria.
In the now viral clip, Koboko expressed outrage that Daddy Freeze was focusing his criticism on a man who isn’t even in power while ignoring the actions of those currently running the country.
“Daddy Freeze, I am disappointed in you. You are attacking Peter Obi. Is Peter Obi the president of this country?” Koboko asked.
He questioned why Freeze would seek explanations from Obi on matters linked to the Abacha era, calling the move a distraction and irrelevant to Nigeria’s current crisis.
“You are asking Obi to tell you what he had to do with Abacha. What do you need the explanation for? What will it help you to achieve in the present-day situation in Nigeria?” he added.
The comedian went further, daring the media figure to hold Tinubu accountable for the state of the nation.
“You are questioning Peter Obi as what? Have you questioned the present-day government? Daddy Freeze, I dare you to ask Tinubu why the country is like this,” he said.
He accused Freeze of silence on rising insecurity, especially in violence-ridden states like Benue and Zamfara, questioning his motives and suggesting he had been financially compromised.
“You have not questioned Tinubu on the unaliving of people in Benue and Zamfara because it did not happen to you or your family. And you are questioning Obi. How would this question affect Nigerians?” he asked.
Koboko didn’t mince words, alleging that Freeze’s history of supporting figures like Hushpuppi shows a pattern of behaviour driven by personal interest.
“Stop behaving like a hypocrite. You have been paid allegedly. You have been bankrolled,” he said, adding, “You are the same person that supported Hushpuppi and was promoting crime. Anywhere you see money, you are there.”
He wrapped up his rant by calling Freeze an oppressor of the poor, stating, “You are not a good person; it is clear. You use your platform to oppress and suppress the poor.”
The video has sparked wide reactions online, with several users backing Koboko’s fiery criticism. One user, @mcbob9ja, wrote, “That bastard is a hypocrite normally,” while @truebenny001 noted, “Peter Obi IS the star boy… People always follow the light wherever it goes.”
Others praised the comedian for voicing what many Nigerians are thinking. @okoyedavid007 said, “Comediankoboko you always give me joy. May God bless you.”
Still, a few questioned the idea of shielding public figures from scrutiny. @Laykay1103 asked, “So Obi has become a god that shouldn’t be questioned?”
