Residents of Warri and Effurun in Delta State are set to endure an eight-day blackout starting from Monday, December 4, to Monday, December 11, 2023, as announced by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
The power outage is necessitated by a planned major repair on the panel circuit breakers at Okoloba.
In a statement released by BEDC’s Warri Region and made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State on Sunday night, the company outlined its commitment to improving service and explained that the replacement of the old 11KV Indoor Panel Circuit Breakers at Okoloba ISS would commence on Monday, December 4, with completion targeted on or before December 11, 2023.
The statement partly reads, “This is to inform our esteemed customers that we are replacing the old 11KV indoor panel circuit breakers at Okoloba ISS tomorrow, Monday, December 4, 2023, and to be completed on or before December 11, 2023.
“The affected areas include PTI, Airport Road, Sapele Road, Effurun, and Warri environs, respectively.

This announcement follows a recent blackout that affected Warri and Effurun metropolises for about two weeks, highlighting the challenges faced by the region’s electricity distribution network. #Delta
