Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu, has sounded the alarm, claiming that democracy in Nigeria has a bleak future.
Moghalu asserted that this dire outlook will persist unless the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) gains true independence and electronic transmission and collation of election results are made mandatory.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Moghalu emphasized that elections will remain a charade and a path to state capture unless these changes are implemented.
He said: “Democracy in Nigeria has a bleak future if @inecnigeria is not truly independent, and if electronic transmission and collation of election results is not made MANDATORY. Else, elections simply remain a charade – a path to state capture by whichever political parties are able to.”
