Thugs Almost Burnt Me Alive During EndSARS Protest – Desmond Elliot Reveals

Nigerian actor and Lagos lawmaker Desmond Elliot has opened up about a life threatening ordeal he faced amid the unrest of the 2020 EndSARS demonstrations.

In an interview on Nollywood On Radio, Elliot shared how an unexpected attack almost claimed his life while he sought refuge in his constituency office in Surulere after the government announced a curfew.

Unable to make it back to his Lekki residence, the legislator decided to stay overnight at his local office. He explained, “When there was curfew during the EndSARS period, a lot of bad boys came into Surulere and because of the curfew I could not go home.”

He further explained that “I was stucked in Lekki so I could not go home and has to go back to my office in Surulere.”

While settling in for the night, Elliot said he was simply watching television when the situation outside escalated rapidly. “I was inside my office and never knew there was going to be anything so I was watching the TV in my office because I had the intention to spend the night at the office,” he said.

Soon after, he heard loud noises and the voice of a neighbour. “Next thing, I heard my landlady’s daughter screaming, saying I don’t stay there,” he said. The atmosphere quickly turned violent. “When I knew there was a problem was when a bottle with fuel and fire was thrown into my office and it caught fire,” Elliot revealed.

Fearing for his life, he immediately reached out for assistance. “I had to call the chief of staff for help. I have never been so scared in my life, it was horrible,” he recounted.#EndSARS#Protest
