The IC World Emporia Centre, a well-known shopping mall located in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja, succumbed to a raging fire that broke out around 4 am on Wednesday morning.
Eyewitnesses reported witnessing the inferno that consumed goods estimated to be worth millions of naira.
Despite attempts to alert the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Emergency services, an individual identified as Mister Mash, reported encountering difficulties in reaching assistance.
Taking to his X handle, Mash, under the username “Mister Mash,” shared the unfolding crisis, stating, “4:13 am currently happening right now in Gwarimpa, IC World Emporia on fire.”
Expressing frustration, Mister Mash detailed the challenges faced when seeking help, revealing, “I called the @Fedfireng emergency line 0803 200 3557; the woman hung up on me. I called 112, they said I should call 122, I called 122, they said I should call 112.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, and investigations are expected to be launched to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the destructive incident.
