Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has affirmed his stance against performing “stupid” actions to appease the club’s supporters.
Speaking to the media on Friday ahead of their upcoming match against Sheffield United on Sunday, he addressed his relationship with the Blues’ fanbase amidst recent victories and challenges on the pitch.
Despite enjoying a thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United on Thursday, where Cole Palmer secured the win with a late deflected goal, Pochettino emphasized the importance of authenticity in his connection with fans.
Reflecting on the evolving nature of Chelsea’s current project, Pochettino expressed a desire to cultivate genuine connections with fans rather than resorting to superficial displays of loyalty.
Pochettino stated, “For the first time, I started to feel a connection with the fans.
“This project is different to the last 20 years.
“I always said that I wanted to build a genuine relationship, not kiss the badge or do stupid things on the touchline to please the fans,” he added.
