Another PDP Bigwig Resigns From the Party As Anarchy Looms

Former Deputy Speaker of Imo state House of Assembly and member representing Nkwerre/ Nwangele/Isu/Njaba Federal Constituency, Ozurigbo Ugonna, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has tendered his resignation from the party.

The announcement came via a letter dated April 25, 2024, addressed to the ward Chairman. Ugonna expressed the difficulty of his decision amid what he described as the “decay” within PDP and a proliferation of “incompatible differences.

In the letter titled “Resignation from Peoples Democratic Party”, Ugonna wrote: “I have come to that decisive moment I had never wished, as I am constrained by the circumstances defined by hard truths, incompatible differences within the PDP and after due consultations with stakeholders to inform you that, I have resigned from my membership of PDP.

” Kindly accept my regards of highest esteem. “

Parallel facts reported that there has been a mass exodus in the party. The former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, led the wave of resignations, tendering his departure in a letter dated April 23, 2024. Citing the party’s inability to enact internal reforms, enforce its own rules, or provide credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Ihedioha expressed his resignation effective immediately.

Joining Iheduru in severing ties with the PDP, Chief (BARR) Chris Okewulonu, a former member of the PDP Board of Trustees submitted his resignation letter. This was contained in a letter dated April 22, 2024 and addressed to the Chairman Board of Trustees, PDP, PDP national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
