Nigeria’s D’Tigress have secured a place in the final of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket after a hard-fought win over Senegal on Saturday.
The defending champions claimed a 75–68 victory in what many described as the “final before the final,” held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Despite trailing by 8 points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Nigerian team, led by Coach Rena Wakama, mounted a strong comeback to defeat the 2023 silver medalists by a 7-point margin.

Nigeria will now aim to clinch their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title, continuing their dominant run in African women’s basketball.
