In a display of frustration with Nigeria’s economic woes, Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau attempted to take his life on Monday by scaling a towering 120ft mast at ASO Radio in Abuja.
Threatening to end his own life, Yushau’s actions halted traffic and drew a crowd, prompting swift intervention from police authorities.
“With much professional persuasion from the police operatives, the man later identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau was prevented from taking his own life.
“He claimed to have been observing the mast for about a week before deciding to climb it. The suspect is presently in police custody and stable condition,” the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command Josephine Adeh said in a statement on Monday.
