Edo 2024: Court Dismisses Imansuangbon’s Suit Against Akpata

On Monday, the Federal High Court in Benin City, Edo State’s capital, dismissed a lawsuit filed by Kenneth Imansuagbon challenging the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Bar Olumide Akpata, for the upcoming Edo State governorship race.

The court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction to hear the suit, describing it as speculative and without merit.

It noted that Imansuagbon failed to utilize the internal dispute resolution mechanisms within the Labour Party before pursuing legal action, thus depriving the court of jurisdiction.

Additionally, the court stated that Imansuagbon’s allegation regarding Akpata not signing the Indemnity Form was statute-barred, further reinforcing its lack of jurisdiction.
