Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming Edo State 2024 Governorship election, Olumide Akpata has unequivocally pledged to lead a government based on merit rather than nepotism.
He made this revelation during a virtual interaction on X titled “Vawulence Space: One on one with Olumide Akpata.”
Akpata emphasised his commitment to eradicating the influence of familial connections in governmental appointments, asserting that meritocracy is crucial for the success of any administration.
During the online space discussion, Akpata equally highlighted the detrimental effects of nepotism on governance, emphasizing that appointments not grounded in merit can impede the overall progress of a government.
