All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary in Edo State has descended into disarray as conflicting declarations reveal three contenders for the party’s gubernatorial ticket.
The confusion unfolded when Governor Hope Uzodimma’s governorship primary committee initially declared Dennis Idahosa as the winner.
However, the situation intensified as the Returning Officer, Stanley Ugboaje, announced Monday Okpebholo as the victor of the same election.
Adding to the tumult, local government returning officers late Saturday night proclaimed Anamero Dekeri, the current representative of Etsako federal constituency in the House of Representatives, as the winner with 25,384 votes. This surpasses Dennis Idahosa, who scored 14,127 votes, according to the local government returning officers.
This unprecedented turn of events has left the APC with three candidates competing for the gubernatorial position in Edo State, raising questions about the credibility of the primary process and underscoring internal divisions within the party.
