Despite Not Finding Yahaya Bello, EFCC Arrests 15 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Abuja, Rivers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in separate operations in Abuja and Rivers State. This was revealed by the anti-graft agency through statements posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

EFCC Arrests 15 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Abuja, Rivers

In Rivers State, EFCC operatives conducted an operation in the Ada George area of Port Harcourt, specifically targeting Whimpey. This led to the arrest of 11 suspected fraudsters. “Their arrest followed credible intelligence on their alleged internet fraud activities and several days of the commission’s surveillance within the areas,” the EFCC stated.

During the operation, the commission seized several items from the suspects, including four cars, various brands of mobile phones, and laptop computers containing fraudulent documents. These items are believed to be tools used in their illicit activities.

In a separate operation in Abuja, the commission apprehended four more suspects on Thursday. This sting operation took place in the Kubwa area, following similar intelligence and surveillance efforts. The EFCC reported that the suspects in Abuja were found with “four brands of mobile phones.”

The EFCC emphasized that these operations are part of their ongoing efforts to combat internet fraud across Nigeria. The agency assured the public that the suspects will face charges after thorough investigations are concluded.

Despite these operations, the EFCC has yet to locate former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, who was also under investigation for alleged embezzlement of public funds.
