Popular Nigerian social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The development was confirmed by activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, in a post on his official Facebook page on Friday evening.
According to earlier reports, the arrest followed criticisms by VDM against Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) after he alleged that unauthorised transactions occurred on his mother’s account.

Providing further updates, Adeyanju disclosed that a legal team led by Marvin Omorogbe had visited the EFCC custody and met with VDM’s friend, who was arrested alongside him.
He said VDM declined to leave the cell to meet anyone and revealed that the influencer was held at the GTB exit door for over five minutes to enable the EFCC to arrest him and his friend.
“VDM refused to come out of the cell; that he won’t see anyone. VDM was locked inside the GTB exit door for over 5 mins to enable EFCC to arrest him and his friend.
“We will be taking legal actions against GTB for the inhumane treatment meted out to our client,” he stressed.
