EFCC Goes After Herbalist and 48 Suspected Fraudsters in Kogi

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made arrests in Lokoja, Kogi State. A herbalist, suspected to be a spiritual guide for internet fraudsters, was apprehended along with 48 individuals allegedly involved in online scams.

According to an official statement released by the EFCC on Thursday, these arrests were made following credible intelligence. The suspects were nabbed at different locations in Lokoja on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Among the seized items were an assortment of charms, signifying the involvement of spiritual elements in the fraudulent activities. Additionally, authorities recovered 10 luxury cars, two motorcycles, 11 laptops, and a whopping 83 mobile phones from the suspects.

All the apprehended individuals, aged between 17 and 34, are male and will face charges in court once investigations are concluded.

This recent development echoes a similar incident in February 2023 when a 65-year-old herbalist was among 22 people arrested in Edo State for various crimes, including armed robbery and cultism.
