EFCC Recovers Over N248 Billion in Crime Proceeds in One Year

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the recovery of over N248 billion in crime proceeds over the past year.

In an update on the agency’s achievements, Director of Public Affairs Wilson Uwajaren disclosed this information on Thursday.

In addition to the N248 billion, the EFCC recovered over £53,000 and €172,000, along with €5,000 earmarked for victims of crime in Spain.

Uwajaren emphasized that the commission is enhancing its rapid response capabilities, which is expected to contribute to a decrease in cybercrime incidents.

Furthermore, Uwajaren revealed that the EFCC has secured more than 35 convictions related to Naira abuse during social events. To bolster its operations, three new directorates will be established in Ekiti, Katsina, and Anambra states.
