Nigerian human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has slammed Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing it as a “complete embarrassment, a monumental failure, and an unmitigated disaster.”
He made this comment on May 29, 2025, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he responded to Bola Tinubu’s national address commemorating his two years in office, where he outlined key economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and fiscal deficit reduction.
In his speech, Tinubu claimed significant progress under his leadership, citing the drop in Nigeria’s fiscal deficit from 5.4% of GDP in 2023 to 3.0% in 2024, increased external reserves exceeding \$23 billion, and tax reforms aimed at easing burdens on low-income households.

But Effiong dismissed these achievements, asserting that the government remains out of touch with the everyday struggles of Nigerians, particularly amid worsening living conditions and widespread insecurity.

While some users echoed his concerns about the administration’s failures, others, especially Tinubu supporters, pushed back, labelling him an “economic saboteur” and “irrelevant nuisance.”
This reflects the concerns of the people on how Tinubu performs amid persistent concerns about governance, accountability, and human rights.
