Ekiti Farmers Decry Destruction of Over 30 Farmlands by Fulani Herdsmen, Call for Urgent Security Intervention

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly invaded the farming community of Idege in Ekiti State, destructing numerous farmlands by free-ranging cattle reared by the herders.

The affected farmers, numbering over 30, have called upon the government and security agencies for immediate intervention, expressing fears for their safety as they claim to be pursued by “armed herders” with the intent to “eliminate them.”

Ibrahim, a victim of the attack, shared the extent of the devastation with journalists in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, revealing that over 30 farmers in the farmstead were affected by the destruction.

The farmers emphasize the urgent need for security measures to protect their livelihoods and ensure the safety of the community.
