Hardship: Ekiti Resident Arrested for Reportedly Stealing ‘Fufu’ With Pot of Soup

A 20-year-old man identified as Ojo Monday has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti State, on charges of housebreaking and theft.

Allegedly, the suspect stole items including noodles, Maggi seasoning, salt, onions, “fufu,” and a pot of soup valued at N300,000, belonging to the complainant. The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, March 14, around 12 noon at Falegan, Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti.

According to reports from Daily Trust, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Moyosola Adesola, highlighted that the offences contravene Sections 322 and 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

The defendant’s counsel, Olayinka Opaleke, requested bail for the defendant.

In response, Chief Magistrate Mrs. Taiwo Ajibade granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000. The case has been adjourned until April 23 for further hearing.
