Ekiti State, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, is poised to host the 64th National Council on Health. The news was unveiled by the Ekiti State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, at a recent press briefing.
The much-anticipated event, slated for November 13–17, 2023, will be held in the state’s capital. It is projected to draw over 800 delegates from across the nation and beyond. This represents a landmark achievement for Ekiti State, as it will be the inaugural occasion of the state hosting the National Council on Health meeting.
The theme for this year’s programme is “Building the Resilience and Inclusive Health Care System for a Healthy Nigeria”. The event is designed to foster dialogue on pressing health issues, assess progress, and shape decisions that will steer the course of healthcare in Nigeria.

Dr. Filani voiced his optimism about the manifold benefits that hosting the event will bring to the State. He remarked, “Ekiti State stands to reap substantial rewards from hosting this national gathering. It will invigorate the economy through tourism, generate revenue for local businesses, and foster meaningful cooperation and collaboration.”
The event is also anticipated to bolster Ekiti State’s brand visibility and provide a significant impetus to the local economy through the influx of tourists and the patronage of local hotels and parks.
