Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has refuted allegations claiming he has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any other political group.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, El-Rufai described the claims as “patent lies” and urged Nigerians to disregard them.
He also revealed plans to take legal action against those responsible for propagating the misinformation.
El-Rufai stated, “Please, disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers.”

Speculations had surfaced alleging that El-Rufai was collaborating with prominent political figures to form a coalition aimed at challenging the APC in the 2027 elections.
