Bashir, one of the sons of the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has leveled accusations of incompetence and poor performance against Governor Uba Sani.
This response follows remarks made by Governor Sani regarding the administration that preceded his own.
During a town hall meeting in Kaduna on Saturday, the governor disclosed inheriting a substantial debt burden, comprising $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from the El-Rufai administration.
Governor Sani expressed concern that this significant debt was heavily impacting the state’s federal allocation.
He noted that a considerable portion of the N10 billion federal allocation for the state in March, amounting to N7 billion, was deducted to service the state’s debt.

The governor further lamented that only N3 billion remained, an amount deemed insufficient to cover the state’s monthly salary bill of N5.2 billion.
“Despite the huge debt burden of 587 million Dollars, 85 billion Naira, and 115 Contractual Liabilities sadly inherited from the previous administration, we remain resolute in steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development. We have conducted a thorough assessment of our situation and are sharpening our focus accordingly” Gov Sani had said.
But in a series of posts via X, the young El-Rufai accused Governor Sani of surrounding himself with “incompetent aides appointed for political patronage.”
Bashir said instead of admitting its incompetence, the current administration resorted to deflecting by raising alarm on a debt burden inherited from the El-Rufai administration.
The former governor’s son further questioned Sani’s wisdom in “building a banquet hall for N7 billion” while, in the same breath “lamenting about debt left by the previous administration.”
He wrote: “These guys have realised that they are wholly incompetent and the only way to mask the nonsense is to deflect. From a Governor that is always sleeping in Abuja to a litany of incompetent aides that were only rewarded for foolish political reasons.
“FYI: He was the Senator from Kaduna who lobbied & approved the loans.
“One would think that from all the FAAC allocations these unserious clowns have changed to dollars, debt would be the least of their problems
“The current administration in Kaduna is building a banquet hall for 7BN naira and is lamenting about debt left by the previous administration.”
Bashir’s tweets have elicited different reactions. While supporters of the governors are hitting back at him, El-Rufai’s supporters have descended on the governor.
