Elon Musk, the CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter), has declared that Premium and Premium+ subscriptions will be offered for free to users with substantial followings on the platform.
Musk, who acquired X in October 2022, revealed this initiative via a post on his X handle on Thursday.
Under this new policy, accounts with 2500 or more verified subscriber followers will receive Premium features at no cost, while accounts with over 5000 followers will enjoy the Premium+ package for free.
Musk stated, “Going forward, all X accounts with over 2500 verified subscriber followers will get Premium features for free and accounts with over 5000 will get Premium+ for free.”
The Premium subscription includes benefits such as reduced advertisements and the ability to apply for revenue sharing opportunities, while Premium+ subscribers will benefit from an ad-free experience and reply prioritization.
Additionally, Musk announced that the Grok AI chatbot, previously exclusive to Premium+ users, will soon be accessible to all Premium subscribers. This move comes amidst increasing competition with OpenAI.
The billionaire entrepreneur has been actively encouraging users to subscribe to nominal fee plans in an effort to enhance X’s revenue streams.
