Emefiele To Stand Trial for Alleged Economic Sabotage Today

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is set to face trial today on charges of economic sabotage brought forth by the Federal Government.

After a halted attempt just 24 hours ago, Emefiele will now be arraigned at a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The trial is scheduled before Justice Hamza Muazu, as indicated by a notice obtained by DAILY POST.

The document reveals that Emefiele will be joined in the dock by Ramalan Yaro.

An anonymous court registrar confirmed the impending court appearance, where Emefiele will enter a plea of guilty or not guilty.

Maxwell Opara, a member of Emefiele’s defense team, acknowledged that the notice of arraignment had been duly served on the former CBN Governor, ensuring his appearance in court.

Furthermore, Emefiele is expected to be brought before the court by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Matthew Burkaa.

The arrangement was made under the bail granted by Justice Olukayode Adegbola Adeniyi, also from the FCT High Court, who signed an undertaking for Emefiele’s appearance during the trial. The nation awaits the unfolding proceedings in this high-profile case.
