Some minors arrested during the recent #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests in Kano State have been granted bail from detention.
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the young persons were released following the intervention of a civic organisation, Advocate for Justice Alliance, led by Barrister AK Musa.
Barrister AK Musa on Saturday told SaharaReporters that 40 minors among those sent to prisons had been released but none of the adults was granted bail. “40 minors granted bail from Kano prison. No adult was granted bail,” he said.
“Matter is to continue on the 11th of September 2024. My organisation is working with the legal aid in Kano to secure the release and representation of more persons.”

On August 1-10, thousands of Nigerian youths trooped out to the streets to demand solutions to the country’s surging inflation and persisting insecurity.
However, Amnesty International said, at least 632 protesters were held in Kano State, while over 109 are being detained in Sokoto prison custody.
