In a recent development on the Israel-Hamas crisis, Mark Esper, the former U.S. Secretary of Defense, has criticized what he termed an “intelligence failure” following a surprise attack by Palestine on Israel.
Esper expressed his shock at the unexpected nature of the attack, stating, “It was a surprise, it caught the Israelis completely off guard and you can’t say anything but it was an intelligence failure.”
He further highlighted the potential long-term implications of this incident. “We’re dealing with a tactical situation on the ground, which is terrible and tragic for both Israeli citizens and the Israeli military,” he said. “But this is going to ripple in multiple ways, being such a failure.”
