Ex-APC Presidential Aspirant SKC Ogbonnia Resigns, Slams Tinubu of Failed Leadership

Dr. SKC Ogbonnia, a former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Enugu State, has resigned from the ruling party, citing failed leadership

Ogbonnia announced his decision in a letter addressed to the APC chairman of the Owelli/Amoli/Ugbo/Ogugu ward in Awgu Local Government Area on Tuesday.

He said his resignation followed consultations with his family, political allies, and a careful reflection on the current political realities in Nigeria and within the party.

Ogbonnia, a founding member of the APC, said he initially joined the party with hopes for positive change and national development, but recent events have made his continued membership untenable.

He cited pervasive undemocratic practices, imposition of leaders, marginalisation of loyal members, and vendetta politics as key reasons for leaving, saying these have stifled internal party growth and participation.

Ogbonnia also criticised the APC for sidelining youths in key federal appointments and accused Bola Tinubu of running a failed government that has compromised national security and sovereignty.

He described Tinubu as a “failed president” and expressed outrage at the plot to re-nominate him as the APC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

Ogbonnia concluded by thanking the party and wishing it well, but emphasised that the APC in its current state does not serve the best interest of Nigerians or his community.
