Ex-Power Minister Wanted by EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warrant for the arrest of Olu Agunloye, a former Minister of Power and Steel, in connection with an alleged fraud amounting to $6 billion.

Agunloye, who held office during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure from 1999 to 2003, is now on the EFCC’s wanted list.

Previously, Agunloye was summoned and interrogated by the anti-corruption body.

This development follows accusations from former President Obasanjo, who criticized Agunloye for mismanagement of the power project and failing to provide updates on its progress.

In 2016, Agunloye sought political office as the governor of Ondo State under the Social Democratic Party. He hails from Akoko North Local Government Area in Ondo State.
