Football pundit Ben Jacobs has suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to depart from Al Nassr before the conclusion of his contract in the summer of 2025.
Addressing recent speculation surrounding the legendary striker’s future, Jacobs pointed out that while Ronaldo may be facing challenges, he is expected to continue with the Saudi club for at least another season.
During a recent interview with TalkSport, Jacobs highlighted the potential impact of Saudi fans taunting Ronaldo with the name of his long-time rival, Lionel Messi. He indicated that such taunting might be affecting the player, particularly in light of recent events on the field.
His tenure at Al Nassr has been marked by a notable absence of major trophies, despite his impressive scoring record. The Portuguese star has missed out on five titles during his time at the club and has yet to celebrate any significant successes.
Following a red card in Al Nassr’s recent 2-1 loss to Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final, Ronaldo is expected to be sidelined for a few upcoming games.
Jacobs stated, “I think he’ll do another season. I think Ronaldo still feels that he’s the one capitalising on this. So there’s a personal aspect that feeds into maybe his ego that he started all of this.
“And every time he does anything wrong, opposition fans are chanting the name ‘Leo Messi.’
“And that juxtaposition of Messi winning the World cup, Ronaldo being in Saudi Arabia, I think is really irking him,” he added.
