JUST IN: Explosion Destroys Buildings, Properties at APC Secretariat in Rivers as LG Poll Holds

Buildings and other properties were damaged early Saturday when explosives, suspected to be dynamite, hit the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

The explosion destroyed the gate of the secretariat, along with doors, windows, and other property.

This marks the second time this year that the Chief Tony Okocha-led APC has faced such an attack on its secretariat.

The incident occurred just as the local government elections are scheduled to take place today. On Friday, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission announced that all sensitive materials had been distributed to the various local government areas.

A viral video of the incident, viewed by our correspondent, showed workers at the facility inspecting the damage.
