Court

The Federal Capital Territory High Court has scheduled January 18, 2024, as the date for the continuation of the trial in the alleged procurement fraud case involving the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Emefiele was accused of leverage his position to confer a corrupt advantage on Sa’adatu Yaro, a staff member of the CBN by awarding a contract for the procurement of 43 vehicles worth N1.2 billion between 2018 and 2020.

Following the accusations, Emefiele was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending a ruling on his bail application, which occurred on November 22.

Justice Hamza Muazu granted bail to the former CBN governor in the sum of N300 million.

The conditions of the bail require Emefiele to produce two sureties in a like sum.
