Federal Government Declares Wednesday 27th As Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, September 27th, as a public holiday in commemoration of the Eil-ul-Maulid celebration. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, made this known on Monday.

Eid El Maulud is a day off for the populace, schools, and businesses that will either not open or close early. The holiday celebrates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who was born in Mecca, a city in Saudi Arabia that is revered as “holy” by Muslims.

In a statement that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, issued on his behalf, Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Muslims for witnessing this year’s occasion.

He also advised them to cultivate the spirit of love, patience, tolerance, oneness, and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW ) represents.
