‘Nothing is working in my life,’ Female Banker Commits Suicide

A 32-year-old female bank marketer, Amarachi Ugochukwu, in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has tragically taken her own life by consuming an insecticide.

The incident, which occurred on Monday within the bank’s premises, was reported by PUNCH Metro.

Ugochukwu had entered the restroom around 1pm and ingested the insecticide, unbeknownst to her coworkers.

Concern arose among her colleagues when her phone, left on her desk, continued to ring unanswered. A police source later confirmed that Ugochukwu was discovered lifeless in the restroom, with the insecticide bottle and a suicide note nearby.

In the suicide note, Ugochukwu attributed her desperate act to the harsh economy and personal struggles, stating that nothing in her life was going right. She wrote, “Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore.”

In the same note, Ugochukwu expressed her apologies to her family members, writing, “I’m sorry mum, I’m sorry dad, I’m sorry Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya,” and concluded with, “Dear Lord, have mercy on me!”

The bank’s manager reported the incident to the police, stating that Ugochukwu had locked herself in the restroom and was found dead when the door was forcibly opened. A medical doctor who examined Ugochukwu confirmed her death.

The police subsequently removed her body and transported it to Ikorodu General Hospital for an autopsy. The incident is currently under investigation by the Lagos police. Attempts to reach the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for comments were unsuccessful. (Punch)
