Federal Government Announces Public Holidays for Christmas and New Year Celebrations

The Federal Government has announced that Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26, 2023, as well as Monday, January 1, 2024, will be observed as public holidays. These days are set aside to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Day, respectively.

The declaration was made by the Honorable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his warm wishes to Christians and all Nigerians, both in the country and abroad, on this occasion.

He encouraged Christians to follow the example of Jesus Christ, embodying his teachings and practices of humility, service, compassion, and patience.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that peace and security are essential foundations for economic growth and prosperity.
