The 2024 Appropriation Bill allocates a total of N460,217,071 for the State House’s “Materials and Supplies” by the Federal Government. Within this amount, N253,277,638 is designated for foodstuffs and catering materials.
The breakdown of expenses under this category encompasses a range of items such as foodstuffs, stationery, newspapers, books, and more, as outlined in the document released by the Budget Office of the Federation on Wednesday.
Bola Tinubu presented this budget, referred to as the “Budget of Renewed Hope,” to a joint session of the National Assembly on November 29.
A section of the document outlines the allocation for State House Materials and Supplies, including N66,719,333 for office stationery and computer consumables, N6,427,173 for books, N21,296,484 for newspapers, N3,379,524 for magazines and periodicals, N24,303,149 for printing non-security documents, N11,349,170 for printing security documents, N63,882,198 for drugs and medical supplies, N9,582,402 for uniforms and other clothing, and the previously mentioned N253,277,638 for foodstuffs and catering material supplies.
Furthermore, the budget earmarks N260.8 million for electricity bills and N50 million for internet access charges for the State House.
The overall utility expenses amount to N372 million, covering electricity, internet access, telephone charges (N4.4 million), water rates (N30 million), and sewerage charges (N26 million).
The detailed breakdown of the 2024 budget also reveals that N217 million is allocated for fuel and lubricants at the State House.
Specifically, N148 million is designated for motor vehicle fuel costs, N37 million for plant and generator fuel costs, and N31 million for cooking gas.
