The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced that the automation of the passport application process will commence on January 8, 2024.
Under this new system, Nigerians will be able to apply for and finalize their passport applications entirely online, eliminating the need for in-person interactions.
The Minister shared this information during his inspection of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) facilities in Abuja on Monday.
“We are good to go live,” he assured.

“We are starting the training, and on January 8, the solution will be live and direct for Nigerians to have a good feel.
“We have been able to reduce human contact in passport acquisition to the minimum,” he added.
