JUST IN: Tinubu’s Govt Increases Electricity Tariff From N66 to N225

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has announced its approval of an increase in electricity tariffs for customers falling under Band A.

This disclosure was made by NERC’s Vice Chairman, Musliu Oseni, during a press briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Oseni stated that the approved increase would result in customers paying N225 per kilowatt-hour, compared to the current rate of N66.

Band A customers, as outlined by Oseni, are those who receive 20 hours of electricity supply daily.

Oseni further elaborated that these Band A customers represent 15 percent of the total 12 million electricity customers nationwide.

He added, “The commission has issued an order titled April Supplementary Order, allowing a tariff rate of 235 kilowatt-hours.”
