The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), which manages the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited, experienced a minor fire incident earlier on Friday. At the top of a cooling tower, welding activities were reported to have started the fire.
The fire started around 3:02 p.m. Thanks to the immediate response from the refinery’s safety officers, the fire was put out by 3:30 PM. The situation is now under control.
The NNPC has confirmed that this incident will not delay the ongoing rehabilitation project at the refinery. The company remains committed to maintaining high safety standards in all its operations.
The Warri Refinery is one of Nigeria’s major refineries, along with those in Port Harcourt and Kaduna. Although these facilities are currently not refining crude, they are undergoing rehabilitation.
