Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has invoked the “fire of God” against the perpetrators responsible for the deaths of traditional rulers in Nigeria.
In response to the recent killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, allegedly by Fulani herders, the esteemed clergyman emphasized that those who interfere with traditional rulers in the country will face unrest, as these monarchs are anointed.
Speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service program titled “From the Mountain Top,” Pastor Adeboye declared, “The fire of God will engulf all those who attempt to interfere with our traditional rulers.”
“Because, as far as God is concerned, traditional rulers are anointed.”
Reacting to the worsening security situation in the country, a cleric expressed concern following the recent spate of violence, particularly the killing of three traditional rulers in the Southwestern region over four days.
Earlier this week, three traditional rulers, including the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsola, were ambushed and two of them murdered by gunmen while returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Furthermore, in related attacks, school pupils and teachers were abducted. The violence escalated on Thursday with the brutal assassination of the Olukoro of Koro, General Segun Aremu (retd), in Kwara State’s Ekiti Local Government Area.
The retired army general was fatally shot at his palace that night.

Koro shares borders with Ikole Ekiti, where two traditional rulers were killed earlier in the week, heightening concerns about the targeted violence against traditional leaders by ruthless assailants.
Security agencies, including the police, have deployed helicopters and armored vehicles to Ekiti and have pledged to apprehend the culprits.
Meanwhile, Nigerians are calling for swift justice and an end to the alarming trend of kidnapping and killings in the country.
