Former Gang leader Charged with Murder of Rapper Tupac Shakur

A former gang leader has been charged with the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, who was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. He died in a hospital six days later, at the age of 25.

Tupac was shot four times by his killers, whose identities have since been unknown.

According to Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo, Duane “Keffe D” Davis was charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon on Friday. Davis was detained by the police after being apprehended outside his house early on Friday, according to DiGiacomo.

In interviews and his 2019 tell-all memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” Davis has acknowledged that he was in the Cadillac from which the shooting’s gunfire originated. The prosecution noted that Mr. Davis, 60, was detained this morning while out for a walk close to his house.
