French authorities have ordered Omar bin Laden, the son of the late Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, to leave the country due to social media posts promoting terrorism.
The decision was confirmed by France’s interior minister, Bruno Retailleau, who stated that Omar, 43, had made comments on his social media in 2023 that supported terrorism.
Omar, who was born in Saudi Arabia, left his father at the age of 19 and has lived in various countries, including Sudan and Afghanistan.
He relocated to Normandy, France, in 2016. However, the French government has now deemed his presence a threat to national security.
On Tuesday, Retailleau said on X (former Twitter) that Omar bin Laden had, “posted comments on his social networks in 2023 that advocated terrorism”.
“As a result, the prefect of Orne issued an order to leave French territory.
