The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the victory of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Fuad Laguda, in the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 Bye-Election.
In the official declaration of results, Prof Simeon Adebayo, the Returning Officer for the bye-election, disclosed that the APC Candidate secured a total of 11,203 votes.
Laguda, a former chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the Surulere Local Government, is set to take over from Femi Gbajabiamila, who assumed the role of Chief of Staff to Bola Tinubu.

Gbajabiamila, who served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, had won his re-election into the House for the sixth consecutive term during the February 25 National Assembly election to represent the Surulere 1 Federal Constituency.
However, his appointment as Chief of Staff to Tinubu in mid-2023 necessitated his resignation, leading to a bye-election in Surulere Constituency 1 to fill the vacant seat.
