The Rivers State Government has approved a new minimum wage of N85,000 for civil servants.
The state’s Head of Service, George Nwaeke, announced that Governor Siminalayi Fubara granted the approval during a closed-door meeting with labour leaders and senior government officials.
Nwaeke confirmed that the implementation of the new minimum wage will take effect immediately following the meeting.
The Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Team, Chukwu Emecheta, commended Governor Fubara for fulfilling the expectations of Rivers State workers.

He expressed gratitude for the Governor’s dedication to supporting the workforce.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Rivers State, Alex Agwanwor, stated that the new minimum wage would significantly ease the economic challenges faced by workers in the state.
