Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has pledged to implement Bola Tinubu’s peace pact aimed at ending the political crisis rocking the state, without compromising the interests of the people.
During a statewide Christmas broadcast, the governor acknowledged the diverse responses to the peace agreement.
He stated, “Mr President’s peace proclamation has naturally elicited mixed reactions from our people and across the country.
“As a principal participant in the entire saga, i have taken some time to study the terms therein, and i have come to the conclusion that the peace pact is not as bad as it might be portrayed by those genuinely opposed to it; it is certainly not a death sentence.”
Fubara noted that there has been significant progress in the execution of the agreement, highlighted by the cessation of impeachment actions against him and the distribution of previously suspended allowances to legislators.
He reiterated his steadfast dedication to peace, declaring, “there is no price too much to pay,” and underscored the importance of prioritizing peace over strife.

In his address, Governor Fubara also drew attention to the humble circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ, born in a simple manger to modest parents.
He used this as a metaphor to encourage the people of Rivers to embody the virtues of simplicity, humility, and forgiveness during the holiday season.
